Sketchbook Society: Afterschool Art Camp
Sketch book society is a new winter class being offered for your growing artists who are in grades 1st-6th. This class is designed to not only teach the ‘how to’ of drawing but also to help growing artists learn the stages and processes of planning fine art, the ‘behind the scenes’ of a final art piece. Your child will learn about various sketching skills as they are guided through drawing an animal, a human, a tree, and a still life scene. They’ll learn about the tools for drawing and how to use them, including artist pencils and various shading techniques. They’ll also discover more about design elements and principles like size, proportion, line, layout, value, and contrast. At the end of the class your child will show you their work by keeping and taking home their sketch book, which will have room to keep practicing. As an added bonus, this class will end just in time for your child to put their skills to use and create something for the pin up art show at the annual downtown Jazz Festival! Most importantly, your child will walk away with the joy of the drafting stage and the confidence to draw the world around them!
